John Edward Gray, naixito de Walsall (Midlands de l'Ueste, Anglaterra) o 12 de febrero de 1800 y muerto en Londres o 7 de marzo de 1875, estió un naturalista, zoologo y micologo britanico, chirmán d'o zoologo George Robert Gray y fillo d'o botanico Samuel Frederick Gray.

Treballó dende 1824 en o Museu britanico de Londres con John George Children en a catalogación d'a colección de reptils d'o Museu, convertindo-se en conservador chefe d'o Museu substituyindo a Children en 1840 dica 1874.

Estió miembro d'a Royal Society dende 1832 y establidor d'a Royal Entomological Society of London en 1833.
